1月18日、今年のブリット・アウォードの受賞候補者が発表された。

複数部門でノミネートされたのは、リリー・アレン、ロビー・ウィリアムズ、ディジー・ラスカル、ラ・ルー、フローレンス・アンド・ザ・マシーン、ピクシー・ロット、フレンドリー・ファイアーズ、アニマル・コレクティヴら。

リリー・アレンは最優秀英国ソロ・アーティスト、最優秀英国アルバム（『イッツ・ノット・ミー、イッツ・ユー』）、最優秀英国シングル（“ザ・フィアー”）の3部門でのノミネート。

フローレンス・アンド・ザ・マシーンも最優秀英国ソロ・アーティスト、最優秀英国アルバム（『ラングス』）、そして躍進を遂げたアーティストに贈られる最優秀英国ブレイクスルー・アクトの3部門で受賞候補に挙がった。

フレンドリー・ファイアーズは最優秀英国ブレイクスルー・アクトと最優秀英国グループにノミネート。最優秀英国グループの候補者には他にダヴズ、カサビアン、ミューズらが選ばれた。

アニマル・コレクティヴは最優秀インターナショナル・ブレイクスルー・アクトと最優秀インターナショナル・アルバム（『メリウェザー・ポスト・パヴィリオン』）の2部門でノミネートされた。

また、今年のブリット・アウォードでは過去30年間に同賞の授賞式で行われた演奏の中から最も記憶に残るパフォーマンスを選出する企画「ブリット・パフォーマンス・オブ・30イヤーズ」が行われる。イギリスでは候補に挙がったパフォーマンス（後述）が1月23日にTV放送され、その後視聴者投票が実施される。
